Overview

The goal of this tutorial is to help you set the hostname of your new nexenta box. The reason I needed to figure this out is because when I first brought the new box online it dhcp'd and address from my isp which also set the hostname of the box to something like S238495986923r774%> and well thats not the most easy to remember name.

Specifics about the setup

This is an easy one. You simply have to open and edit a single file

  vi /etc/nodename
  jsmith@floyd:~$ cat /etc/nodename
  floyd
